How Copart UK's fees work

On top of your winning bid, Copart UK charges three fees. All are quoted without VAT, and VAT is added at the prevailing rate (currently 20%).

For example, on a £1,000 vehicle a low volume buyer who places a preliminary bid pays a £225 buyer fee, a £59 bidding fee and the £50 lot retrieval fee, plus £66.80 VAT on those fees. That's £1,400.80 in total, before repairs and transport. Our Copart UK fees explained guide walks through this example in full.

Common questions about Copart UK fees

What's the difference between Fee A and Fee B?

Fee A is for high volume members who have bought 12 or more vehicles in the previous year or the current calendar year, and is lower. Everyone else pays Fee B. Check your own tier with Copart.

What's the difference between a preliminary bid and a live bid?

A preliminary bid is placed before the auction, and a live bid is placed during it. The bidding fee is higher for live bids in every price band.

Is VAT charged on Copart's fees?

Copart quotes its fees without VAT and adds VAT on top, which the calculator does at the rate you enter. Whether VAT applies to the vehicle price itself depends on the lot, so tick "Also apply VAT to this" if it does, and check with Copart.

Does the calculator include transport, storage or payment charges?

Not automatically. Use the Other costs box to add any transport, storage or payment charges you expect, and check Copart UK's member fees and payment pages for the current figures.

Is BidCalc connected to Copart?

No. BidCalc is independent and isn't affiliated with Copart. Always confirm fees directly with Copart before you bid.

Fees are based on Copart UK's published buyer fee schedule as of September 2026 and are shown exclusive of VAT, which is applied here at the rate you enter — to the buyer fee, bidding fee, and lot retrieval fee, and to the winning bid itself if you tick "Also apply VAT to this". VAT treatment of the vehicle price varies by lot, so check with Copart whether it applies to your specific lot before assuming either way. Copart's fees can change at any time — always confirm current fees, and your specific membership tier, directly with Copart before bidding.
