What this website does
BidCalc (the Auction Fee Calculator) helps you work out the total cost of an auction bid, including buyer's premium, VAT, and delivery, with an optional currency conversion.
Data we collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The figures you enter (bid amount, fees, currency) are used only to perform the calculation on your own device and are never sent to us or stored anywhere.
Local storage
To support offline use and faster loading, the website may cache exchange rate data locally on your device using your browser's storage. This cached data stays on your device and is not accessible to us. If you save lots to your running list, those are also kept only in your browser's local storage and are automatically cleared after 12 hours. They are never sent to us.
Live exchange rates
When you use the currency conversion feature, your device makes a direct request to a third-party exchange rate provider (Frankfurter, a free public API) to fetch current rates. No personal information is included in this request.
Advertising and affiliate links
This website may display affiliate banner advertisements from time to time (for example via the eBay Partner Network). Clicking an ad takes you to eBay's website, where eBay's own privacy policy applies. We may earn a commission on qualifying purchases made after clicking these links. Ads are clearly labelled with an "Ad" tag.
Browser extension
The BidCalc Chrome extension is the same calculator, shown in your browser's side panel. It works the same way as the website: it does not collect, store or transmit personal data, it does not read or change the web pages you visit, and it asks for no permission other than opening the side panel. Its only network request is to Frankfurter for exchange rates, and nothing about you is included in that request. Any lots you save stay in the extension's local browser storage on your device.
